I Refuse

I simply refuse to internalize the self body hate that this culture produces and proliferates. This article below is emblematic of the ways that this understanding of beauty as "polished" and "perfect" is unrealistic and dangerous. There are thousands of men and women who have killed themselves or were killed by others because they could not attain it; and there are millions now who suffer from fear and feelings of inadequacy because they believe they are "less than" for not being it.
Any "revolution" in this world must involve a transformation in how we view, connect with and embrace our bodies across the spectrum. As long as we hold these mannequin images in highest esteem we will be robbing ourselves of the opportunity God has given us to embrace the diversity of our curves crevices and blemishes. Beauty is not a sterile image but a canvass of colorful scars.
